March 27, 2022 - Fourth Sunday of Lent
Covenant Part 3: ...to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people -
"What is the Good News, and So What?" - Rev. Dr. Seth Jones
Scripture: Deuteronomy 32:1-7; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Matthew 28:16-20
On Sunday, we talked about the Good News of Jesus Christ. We live in an age where we have flipped things upside down. Now, doctrine and assent to belief are the important elements of a life of faith for many. Back in Jesus' day, the experience of the presence of Christ came first. All belief and any doctrine comes from the experience first, not the other way around. Only people who care about doctrine in the first place will care what a church believes. I believe most people care about the experiences they are having, and the question becomes How will we, as a church and individual, provide an experience of Jesus Christ for another person? That is what we explore today.

March 20, 2022 - Third Sunday of Lent
"Covenant Part 2: Walking in the Ways of the Lord" - Rev. Dr. Seth Jones
Scripture: Joshua 24:13-15; Ephesians 5:8-14; Luke 24:13-34
In this third week of our exploration of the covenant of Rockland Congregational Church, we look at all the different walks with the Lord. There are many, and some are easier than others. The harder walks deal with difficult feelings, such as anger, despair, loneliness, and grief. Today, we focus on grief.
Thank you to Brian Harden, our moderator, for leading the service this week!

March 13, 2022 - Second Sunday of Lent
"Covenant Part 1: The Will, The Word, The Future" - Rev. Dr. Seth Jones
Scripture: Deuteronomy 6, 1 John 2, Mark 3
The second part of our church covenant is "...to seek God's will as taught in the Holy Scriptures". If God has a will, so also do we, so the idea, it seems to me, is to align our will with God's will. But that requires we learn what our will wants and what God wills for us. It is down in the dirt, gritty, material work that is guided by our spirit and the Holy Spirit.

"Relying on the Promises of God" - Rev Seth D Jones
Today, we begin a series on the covenant of Rockland Congregational Church. The first words of our covenant are "We covenant with God and with one another...". But what is a 'covenant'? That is what we explore today.
